Sliding shutter valve for blast furnace gas ducts - using levers to press mobile ring seat against the shutter

The levers consist of elbow levers mounted on pivots located at the elbow and, when the ring seat is rotated through an arc the elbow opens out against spring loaded thrust pads, forcing the seat against the sliding shutter plate. The ring seat is pref. mounted on a support ring driven through an arc by a hydraulic cylinder. Reliable operation is obtd.
