For sharpening the teeth of chain saws a motor driven hand grinder is held against the cutting edges of the teeth at suitable angles, taking one tooth at a time. When one row of teeth is finished, the sense of rotation of the grinding wheel can be reversed for grinding the other row. To facilitate the use of the tool in places without electrical wiring the design proposes an alternative drive from a battery.
