Impact absorbing car frame - with strengthed passenger compartment and compressed air cushion to roll car on impact

The strengthened passanger compartment is wedge shaped and is joined to the front engine section by a pivot joint secured by a shear pin. On impact the front section is displaced and the shear pin snapped. At the same time a compressed air bottle under the rear of the compartment releases sufficient air to form an air cushion and tip the rear of the car upwards. The car then rolls forwards absorbing the impact force. The system is designed to provide maximum protection when hitting a solid structure such as a wall. The car tips upwards until the reinforced roof strikes the wall at a glancing angle to slide the car down again.
