Wire rupture monitoring system - compares short-interval speed signals and displays alarm in case of major discrepancy

Automatic tear monitoring system of wires, strands, threads and strips during their winding, reeling and braiding operations in the electrical cable and cord industry is based on evaluating any differential speed between various parts of the processing machinery. A measuring wheel with a tachogenerator measures the speed in intervals of less than 1 sec. and feed it to a memory. A warning signal is actuated if a flip flop indicates too great a difference between two consecutive readings. This relieves the operator of any tension by automatic supervision and indication of any rupture. The system has an extremely fast response and production scrap by shut-downs is kept to a minimum.
