Structural sliding bearing with friction modified over time period - uses disintegrating capsules holding grease or other friction influencing medium

A sliding bearing, for a building structure, is designed so that its coefficient of friction can be maintained permanently, or for a long period, or for the friction to be increased if required. For this purpose capsules (4), or similar units, are fitted between the parts carrying out the relative movement (1, 2). These contain a medium such as grease, which influences the friction resistance in the contact surface area (3). The sidewalls of the capsules are formed so that they are destroyed or released under the effect of time, temperature, pressure, radiation, ultrasonics, corrosion, aggressive media or other factors. The capsules may be made of self-destructive plastics.
