The prefabricated gutter has bearing surfaces on each sidewall for a cover grating, secured by metal cross arms anchored in the gutter shanks, to prevent it from slipping, and usually liable to result in provision of unsatisfactory joints for paving stone coverage. Here the vertical cross arms (3) are in the form of pieces of L-shaped angle units, comprising shaped rods. The horizontal cross arms (4) are anchored centrally in the shanks, by means of vertical tholepins. These tholepins welded onto the cross arms, may be of about the same length as the shanks (2). The vertical cross arms may incorporate horizontal auxiliary cross arms (6) as seating for the edges of pavings tones, and these may lie deeper than the other horizontal cross arms.
