Transmission channels evaluation method - checks suitability of channels for transmission of phase difference modulated data, using test pulses

Test pulses are modulated at the transmission end onto a carrier frequency and transmitted. A detector is provided at the receiving end, which delivers a voltage proportional to the envelope of carrier frequency pulses. This voltage is canned by clock pulses spaced by the duration of data signal elements. The detector output signal is squared and a mean value is formed. A ratio of this mean value and the sum of squared scanned signals is produced and displayed. The system includes a pulse generator which is connected to a low pass filter.
