Bursting discs, press. responsive valves or similar discharge devices are provided on the equipment which contains the dangerous substances. The discharge devices lead into discharge pipes, which are connected to receiving vessels. The receiving vessels contain foam-forming substances so that, if a discharge of a dangerous substance takes plate into a receiving vessel, foam is produced by the dangerous substance with or without the assistance of a foaming agent. The dangerous substance thus remains imprisoned in the foam as it hardens.
