Securing links for snow chain - with open links bridged by symmetric plates and single screw

The snow chain is secured at its edges by open links (4) which are looped through the flat-and raised circular links of the chain pattern. The open links are closed by two symmetrical segments clamped above and below the gap and secured by a single screw (10) threaded in one segment. The segments have locating lugs which grip notches on either side of the gap for a secure location. The link has fewer components than conventional designs and with the screw normal to the tyre tread, makes for a simple fitting.
