Water-soluble, stabilised copolymer has the formula: In the formula R and R1 are each H, or one is CH3 and the other is H, or R is COOH and R1 is H; R2 is H, NH4, Na, K, CH2CH2OH or CH(CH3)CH2OH; R3 is CN, COOH, sulpho, sulpho-alkyl, 1-6 C alkanoyloxy, 1-7 C alkanoylamino, 2-11 C alkoxycarbonyl, which may be substd. in the alkoxy group by hydroxy, alkoxy, amino, monoalkylamino or dialkylamino, or a pyrrolidone, piperidone or caprolactam group, or a group of formula: -CO-O- CH2-CH(CH3)O)n.(CH2-CH2-O)m -R6; n and m are each 0-30; n + m is 1-30. R4 and R5 are each H; or one is CH3 and the other is H; or R4 is carboxy or alkoxycarbonyl and R5 is H; or R5 is carboxymethyl or alkoxycarbonylmethyl, and R4 is H, or 2-7C alkoxycarbonyl, which may be substd. by hydroxy, alkoxy, amino, monoalkylamino dialkylamino. R6 is 1-20 C alkyl or alkenyl, phenyl, naphthyl, alkylphenyl, 10-20 C alkanoyl, or 4-20 C alkenoyl; A has formula -O- (CH2-CH(CH3)-O-)n.(CH2-CH2-I)m)-R7, and R7 is 1-20 C alkyl or alkenyl, phenyl, naphthyl, alkylphenyl, or 10-20 C alkanoyl). The ratio x/y/z is 1/0.01-5/0-10 esp. 1/0.05-1/0-3. Used as additives to dye-baths for use with mixed polyester/cotton fabrics. The copolymers prevent the appearance of the frosting effect during continuous dyeing with disperse dyes, esp. of fabrics having a polyester/cotton ratio of 80/20-20/80. The baths pref. contain 0.2-5 g/1. of the copolymer.
