Reflective strip from multiple-track vehicle to road sign - allowing perception from 100 metres in fast moving traffic

Warning device for stationary multiple-track vehicles, e.g. lorries comprises a red and white striped reflective PVC strip =100 m long and 4 cm wide, which is housed in a weather-resistant receptacle on a spool with a return spring in the manner of a conventional tape measure, with a metal ring attached to its projecting outer end. If a vehicle fitted with the receptacle, which is normally mounted beneath the loading surface, remains stationary, the strip can be pulled out as far as a stop. By means of the metal ring, the end of the strip is connected to a warning road sign of which the weight prevents the strip from being returned by the return spring. After use, the strip is detached from the road sign, and returned to the receptacle by the spring. The risk of accidents to fast-moving traffic is reduced.
