The screw with a feed section, a high pressure section and a metering section, is provided with a low pressure section adjacent to the feed section. Advantageously, a low speed section and/or a heat stabilising section is provided adjacent to the low pressure section. Increases the moulding capacity and improves the melting process and the mixing/kneading effect as well as facilitating the removal of occluded air, so that an all-purpose screw for any type of resin is provided.
