Reactor access lock swing door - having toggle lever and hydraulic cylinder to open and close the door

A door for a reactor access lock or the like comprises a toggle mechanism for opening, closing and locking it. Pref. the toggle mechanism is pivotally connected to a fixed point and to the door and is hydraulically activated and of reactangular layout. A compression spring pref. biases the mechanism into the locking position when it has passed its dead-centre point. Each lever pref. comprises two bars, alongside one another and rigidly interconnected. In partic. device is for access shafts of passages through which trollyes are to pass, the toggle mechanism arrangement is partic. suitable for a rectangular or similar door fitting a rectangular passage in such circumstances, thus aving the excessive waste of space involved with a conventional circular door and bayonet type lock.
