The balancing circuit, for data telecommunications equipment, handles unbalanced input signals over a wide range and is also able to detect fast changes in signals. The two DC voltages obtained by rectifying the positive and the negative signals separately are added together and the resulting sum voltage used to adjust the balancing circuit. This sum voltage is passed as a reference voltage via an integrator (29, 30) to an amplifier (10) whose output delivers the balanced output signal and whose non-reference input receives the unbalanced input signal. The rectifiers (13, 17, 20, 24) are both coupled to the output of the amplifier and also via an FET switch to the integrator input.
