摘要
The octane number of paraffinic (=70% paraffins) gasoline blending components is increased by (1) cyclising the paraffins by contacting the feed with H2 in the presence of a catalyst comprising a noble metal (specifically Pt or Pd) on manganesia in an alumina gel matrix, and (2) reforming the cyclised effluent in the presence of a conventional Pt or Pt bimetallic reforming catalyst on an K2O3 or K2O3-contg. support. Pref. the catalyst for step (1) is produced by impregnating MgO with a soln. of a soluble Pt cpd. (specifically chloropletinic acid) and drying the impregnated powder prior to mixing it into the Al2O3 gel matrix. The noble metal may be stabilised with another metal (selected from Gp. IVA, VB, VIB, VIIB and VIII metals), and the catalyst may be promoted with a halogen cpd. Process conditions, for both steps, are: 500-1100 (pref. 700-1000) degrees F and 50-900 (pref. 50-500) psig. Reforming is carried out without undesirable cracking reactions causing product volume losses by prodn. of butanes and lighter hydrocarbons.
