Adaptive filter for correlation coefficient monitoring - uses shift register to delay two single bit quantised measurement signals by time proportional to relative speed
An adaptive filter for monitoring correlation coefficients of a correlator used for measuring the relative speed of an object is designed for optimal filter time constant for each object speed. Two single-bit-quantised measurement signals are delayed, by means of a shift register with cycle frequency f, by a time proportional to the relative speed. A counter of counting capacity N counts the number of coincidences of the two signals in N time steps during a measurement time M. The measurement time M is equal to the quotient of the counter capacity N and the clock frequency f.
