摘要
Electrode rods for arc welding, and hard solder rods for brazing, are coated with flux via induction heating. The rods, esp. the brazing rods, are fed continuously through an induction heating coil; and the hot rods then travel directly through a metal tube contg. powdered flux, which is also induction heated by a coil round the metal tube. The hot flux is at a temp. to suit the flux compsn. and sinters onto the hot rods to form an adherent coating. Rod electrodes, which have already been coated by a conventional method with a hygroscopic flux, or with a flux for underwater welding, are pref. treated in a similar manner to obtain a moisture-proof coating. The thickness of the coating is easily controlled; and the drying process, which is necessary when the conventional method of press coating is used, can be eliminated.
