The digitalised system relates to the conversion of graphical input in an analogue form into digital computer processable data. The picture elements from a process, computer controlled, are recorded by a photo-electric pick-up device, typically by an electronic pen or search-coil, which is attached to the rear side of a transparent working surface. The graphical display data may be charts, plans, technical illustrations etc. Alphanumeric data may also be transcribed in the form of (x, y) coordinates on a graphical grid display. A memory unit is included in the system to retain the data prior to further processing.
