Poultry packaging method in which each bird is separately packed in a bag in a trussed condition. Poultry is moved along an endless belt, and each bird is separately trussed by gripper and pusher device, then inserted in a funnel consisting of two pivoting jaw type components which ensure that each bird separately is deposited in adjacent containers place on the transporter belt. A spring loaded pusher device moves each bird separately out of the container into the jaw type funnel from where it is pushed into a bag made of packaging material. The funnel has a longitudinal groove through which the spring loaded pusher devices enter.
