A pulse Doppler radar device has a movement signal filter, a reintegration filter, and a gate. It is designed for heightened sensitivity with respect to very small echo signals. The reintegration filter is a digital filter of small range with a multiplier input stage providing a defined normalisation factor. The normalisation factor is selected to be larger than the nominal normalisation factor, derived from the filter design specification, which ensures that the filter range for the smallest moving target echo signal will permit detection of the lowest signal value. The factor is also selected to ensure that the mean noise level is within the filter range.
