The metal fire screening door, with door frame and hinged leaf, has the leaf in the form of a leaf box (3) and separate surface layer. The latter may be mounted outside the former. The two may be joined together by peripheral flanges in the central plane (5). The joint between door frame (1) and leaf is enclosed between the door frame and the box outer layer. The intervening spaces between the leaf box and the box case may be plugged by hollow moulded strips (9), pref. made from an elastic material, of varied colours, easily destroyed by fire and with low heat conductivity. The effect of deforming forces is reduced, and flames and smoke cannot pass through. Also there is no bending of the box case resulting from heat-conducting connections.
