The ring core transformer is encapsulated in an insulated jacket with a hole concentric to that of the ring core. The primary turns are wound on the ring core and the secondary is wound on the insulated jacket. The casing is made from two moulded plastic shells with interfaces in a plane parallel to the axis of the core. Each half of the encapsulation (4, 5) is made with spring loaded prongs cut out of the circumference. The distance of the secondary winding from the wall of the hole of the ring-core is set by the internal edge of a semi-circular section cut out of the end face of encapsulation.
