Cooling system for tube passing through a wall - e.g. for protecting nuclear reactor pressure vessels

In an arrangement for cooling a tube which passes through a wall and through which a hot medium flows, a cooler contg. a heat transfer medium is provided between the tube and the hole in the wall for the tube. The cooler is provided with a heat exchanger for cooling or condensing the heated and possibly vaporised heat transfer medium. The arrangement is used to protect the wall, e.g. of a pressure vessel or safety chamber of a nuclear reactor plant, against damage by heat.
