A mirror lighting system uses one or more light sources fitted as already known on the back of a mirror. The mirror may be either wholly or partially light transparent or partially light reflecting. The mirror lighting includes parabolic reflectors or reflectors of similar shape or lenses or prism systems which are located to ensure that the rays of the light source are directed obliquely downwards, with the reflectors or lens systems located between the light source and the mirror. The light source is either arranged separate from the mirror or may form one unit with it.
