Reclaiming hot used foundry sand - in an air cooling tower fitted with rotating sand sieve and a mixer

Plant for treating used sand in foundries, uses a sieve on top of a cooling hopper through which the sand flows into a mixer. Between the sieve and the lower part of the hopper are two or more cooling shafts, one leading to a mixer located in the middle of the hopper, whereas the other(s) lead to the lower part of the hopper; and the sand outlet on the base of the hopper is connected to the sieve by conveyors. The pref. plant is designed so the hopper can be used (a) to cool the hot used sand; and/or (b) mix hot used sand with cold used sand; and (c) mix cold sand with a binder and water ready for re-use in the moulding department. Cooling and mixing are rapid.
