Vehicle range determination and display device - measures amount of fuel remaining and compares with voltage representing average consumption

The fuel reserve is converted by a suitable pickup into an analogue voltage signal. It is compared in a comparator (4) with an adjustable reference voltage based on average consumption. The device is so calibrated, that the difference voltage corresponds to the range which can be achieved with the available fuel. This value is applied to a digital display unit (6) through an analogue-digital convertor, and displayed as the distance the vehicle will run before the remaining fuel is exhausted, or as the time for which the vehicle will run before the fuel is exhausted.
