Intensity modulation of optical signals with binary functions - uses electrically controllable liq. crystal device with Walsh function conversion for binary data
Intensity modulation of optical signals with binary functions - uses electrically controllable liq. crystal device with Walsh function conversion for binary data
The liquid crystal device has at least one liquid crystal cell with mutually crossing electrode sets. A first control potential is applied to a selection of electrodes determined by specified binary functions, and a second control potential is applied to complementary electrode selection. The difference between the two control potentials corresponds to the threshold voltage of the liquid crystal cell. The electrode sets may be controlled by the lipolar orthogonal binary functions using the Walsh function conversion of two-dimensional form.
