Polypropylene adhesive tape longitudinally oriented - has closely defined impact tenacity and tear strength

An adhesive tape has a longitudinally oriented carrier based on polypropylene which is coated with an adhesive on one or both sides. The carrier is 0.02-0.05 mm thick and has a transverse impact tenacity of =400 cm/cm2. Its tear strength in the direction of orientation is 20-28 kp/mm2. Used esp. for packaging i.e. tying of parcels and the like. the tape has superior flexibility and low tendency to splitting. In contrast to prior art PVC tape,. the polypropylene does not give rise to noxious decomposition prods. e.g. when being disposed of by incineration.
