This unit is for plating the end surface of cylindrical and prismatic bodies and uses an explosive welding technique. The parts (4) to be plated are placed in boreholes in a guide plate (5) resting on a soft layer on a firm anvil-like base The explosive material (1) and detonator (2) are applied to the top of the plating material (3) below which the parts are placed. On exploding the charge the plating is driven downwards leaving parts of it on the ends of the cylinders.
