An elevator consists of a continuous conveyor belt (2) which runs round two guide rollers (3,4). The upper side (2a) of the conveyor belt (2) has scoops filled with potatoes. The down side (2) of the conveyor belt (2) has scoops from which the potatoes are planted in the ground. There are two rows of scoops, the one row staggered in position in relation to the other. A vibrator mechanism consists of a roller (7) which is mounted on the arm of a lever which has another arm (9). The one arm (9) has a pin (11) which fits into holes (12) by which the position of the roller (7) can be adjusted. The conveyor belt (2) has a row of spaced slits.
