The tracked or wheeled machine, for repairing road surfaces, made of bituminous compound, damaged by wheel grooves or similar, has a chassis carrying a road surface heater, row of teeth, distributor for removed compound, andvibrating smoothing-board to restore the compound and leave a smooth surface. The teeth (9) for tearing the surface open are mounted behind the chassis (3), at a slight interval in front of the smoothing-board (17). In between is the distributing mechanism, in the form of scoop blade, able to move crossways over the road surface (8) and adjustable for height. There may be there or more rows of teeth, adjustable crossways so as to provide a plough-type layout. They can be hinged to the chassis on bars (12), for height adjustment.
