Magnetic tape recorder control - provides automatic playback repeat in simple logic network using ring connected bistables to give required playback repeat sequence

A magnetic tape recorder logic network controls the playback, backwards run, forwards run and stop functions to provide an automatic repeat facility for use when the end of a tape or section is automatically detected. Four bistable circuits (W, V, R,S) corresponding to the functions playback, backwards run forwards run and stop respectively are connected to a current supply resistor (11), to input switches (1, 2, 3, 4) and to each other via capacitances (13', 14', 15') and an AND gate (12) in such a way that only one may set at any one time, and that the three relevant flipflops (WRV) perform a repeat sequence when required in conjunction with markers on the tape. The flip flop arrangement may be of a standard integrated circuit (20) configuration controlling a tape desk (25) together with limit detection (29), pulse generating (31), control flip flops (32, 35) and other relevant circuits.
