Synthetic zeolite with the faujasite structure is prepd. with compsn. Na2O.Al2O3. (3.0-5.0) SiO2. nH2O; where n = 0-8. The zeolite is made by crystallisation of a reaction mixt. contg. Na2O, Al2O3, SiO2 and H2O. The novelty is that the pptn. and crystallisation of the faujasite-aluminosilicate gels occurs at 60-105 degrees C in the presence of zeolite A. The pref. mol. ratios in the reaction mixt., ignoring the zeolite A, are SiO2/Al2O3 = 7.0-30.0; Na2O/SiO2 = 0.3-1; H2O/Na2O = 10.50. The pref. amt. of zeolite A is 1-20, esp. 3-15 wt.% calculated as water-free solid w.r.t. the solid faujasite constituents. The hydrothermal synthesis pref. takes 3-48, esp. 6-24 hours with stirring, and using technical water-glass as the source of SiO2.
