Mine lagging mat connector securements - run as steel bands over mat rod end hooks and held by tongues, wires twisted through and round support between hooks
Mine road lagging mat connector consists of twisted wire linking the eyelets on successive mats by means of end securements which lock to the ends of the hooks and are drawn tight round the support channel held from behind by the lagging mat rod hooks. The end securements (50, 51) comprise two legged steel bands (50, 51) driven axially onto the hook eyelets (42, 43). The bands are locked into place from the opposite direction by tongues (56) forming part of the bands. The tongues are bent into the hook eyelets for this purpose, and the twisted wire (14) ends are looped round the associated bands, between the two legs (53, 54). Pref. the bands are doubled, forming a leg a piece (53, 54), the legs themselves recessed and fitted with the tongues on one rim of the recess where the tongues form part of the length of the rim only.
