Recovery of boric acid from aq. solns. contg. organic cpds. - by burning and scrubbing the combustion gases with water to remove oxides of boron

Process for recovering boric acid from aq. solns. contg. boron cpds. and organic materials comprises (1) burning the soln. in the known way, opt. using a supplementary combustible material; (2) sepg. the resulting boron oxides from the combustion gases by scrubbing and (3) if necessary, sepg. boric acid from the resulting soln. Process is esp. useful for recovering boric acid from mother liquors formed during the working up of reaction streams resulting from the oxidn. of paraffins e.g. cyclohexane in the presence of boron catalysts. Process reduces losses of boron from the system, thus making the process more economical and giving reduced environmental pollution.
