The concrete mixer drum comprises a rotating gear ring (6) meshing with a drive pinion (4). The gear ring is formed by a suitably stamped metal strip (5) shaped into a ring and connected to the drum (1). Pref. the ends of the metal strip abut against each other and are welded together, and the stip is bolted onto the drum. The strip may be angular in cross-section, with the stamped-out portions (10) which form the gear ring provided in the arm (9) which projects away from the drum. The free edge of this arm may extend obliquely upwards out of the plane of the arm, and the angle between the two arms (7, 9) of the stip is pref. slightly less than 90 deg.
