The arrangement comprises a housing (1), a rotating drum (2) held in the housing, a thrust bearing (7) to provide lower support for the drum, and magnetic means (5) to provide contactless support for the upper end of the drum. The magnetic circuit is arranged such that the magnetic flux runs from the magnetic means through the housing and through the rotating drum over its full axial length. The magnetic circuit may be formed by a set of upward projections (3) at the top of the drum, a set of downward projections (11) at the bottom of the drum, and upper and lower yokes (4, 12) secured to the housing and facing the projections.
