The insulated sliding window or door has two, or more, parallel movable wing frames made up from metal profiles, with insulating connection between their outer and inner parts. The spaced metal profiles at the joint are fitted with an auxiliary batten, joined to them by an insulating piece, covering the interval between them. The insulating pieces are made in the form of intervening layers for the auxiliary battens fixed to the interfacing surfaces of the metal profiles. They may incorporate a sealing lip, facing the intervening space on the corner area to fit closely against the interfacing surfaces. The auxiliary battens may be Z-sectioned, with retainer grooves for sealing units, and they may be screwed to the metal profiles, together with the insulating pieces.
