Highrise fire rescue appliance - permits victims to rope down outside building via wire rope with ring and pawl regulating system with control handle

Rescue appliances for fires in highrise buildings enables the victim to come down by rope from the outside of the building. Preferably the victim should be able to control the abseiling speed. The wire rope (11) used for the rescue should be inside the appliance, coiled round a troughed ring (2) with pawls (3) and led via diverters (8, 10) to the outlet (13). A slide (4) moving lengthways in the centre of the ring (11) should lock one of the pawls (3) at any one time in alternation. The control handle (6) is preferably moved on axis (7) to actuate the slide (4) and thus release the particular pawl. The weight of the victim on the rope should contract the damping spring (8) acting as diverter so that a pawl is released by the slide, the spring expands absorbs rope impact, followed by renewed contraction.
