High speed sand moulding machine - with automatic moulding and assembly of drag and cope using two presses

Machine for mfg. copes and drags for boxless sand moulds uses a press (I) to make the drag and a second press (II) to make the cope. Each press has a vertically moving ram above a moulding box and a vertically driven pattern plate; a conveyor carries the drag to the discharge station for the cope. Between the presses is a station for core insertion. The improvement is that a loose drag box is used and carried to press (II); the drag box is turned over in the station; and the drag is pressed out of its box by the ram in press (II). Press (II) is pref. fitted with a lower elevator for moving its pattern plate out of the moulding zone; and the ram in press (II) pref. pushes both a core and a drag out of their moulding boxes simultaneously.
