Coke oven door seal - with flexible inner seal for solids and outer knife edge seal for gas

A sealing device for a coke oven door consists of an inner sealing strip to keep out solids and an outer gastight sealing strip. A channel between them is kept at a lower pressure to remove any gas leaks. The inner strip is pref. angular or Z-shaped and flexible. The outer strip rests unyieldingly against the door frame and is designed as a flat knife edge. Provides a simple system which ensures a safe and reliable seal which remains effective throughout the working hours. Position and dimensions of the two strips need not be precisely matched to each other.
