Articles made from foamed or microporous polyurethane- or polyurea-base compsns. are black-colored using Neozaponschwarz RE (RTM) opt. in combination with carbon black (Neozaponschwarz RE is an organic chromium complex with OH gps. - contg. azo cpds. forming salts with ethoxypropylamine). Neozaponschwarz RE is introduced (in the form of a soln.) into the compsn. before the reaction in an amt. of 0.3-2.0 wt.% or 0.05-0.3wt.% when used in combination with carbon black. Neozaponschwarz RE reacts with diisocyanate gps. so that it becomes firmly anchored in the polymer and cannot be washed out or extracted with oils or fuels. Thus the prod. are esp. suitable for use in motor cars. The colouration is uniform.
