Natural or synthetic rubber seals having metallic reinforcing strips embedded in them are produced in accurately severable lengths in that the reinforcing strips which are provided with apertures are associated contactlessly with identifiable length indicating marks which are embedded in the strips. Used for sealing windows or doors of motor vehicles or buildings. Accurate lengths of sealing strips can be cut repeatedly at locations associated with the apertures.
