Alpha numeric marking for miniature electrical components - uses guided probe which draws sparks to mark series of dots

The marker is esp. for miniature electrical components which have metallic surfaces, e.g. covers which contain a piezoelectric element. A control system (S) provides a voltage pulse between a needle shaped electrode (2) and the surface of a component (4) which is mounted in a clamp (3). The control system further supplies a pulse to a coil (15) mounted round the electrode, so that the coil will lift the electrode. When the electrode is lifted from the surface of the component, a spark is drawn and a dot is marked on the component. The control system further moves the clamp with the component relative to the electrode in a set pattern.
