The guide rail (1) is for a mine face scraper conveyor which passes over a centre plate (3) of a mining machine. This lifts the sections of the channel frame (4) from the floor member (5) when moving and is connected to the machine or extensions (7) of it by a latch arm (21) each side of the centre plate. This arm can swing upwards about a horizontal axis. It can be held down by e.g. a spring (15) and can be a sliding member. Its movement can be restricted by a stop (10) behind the spring.
