Stamping tools consisting of a core plate and a pressure plate with a mobile sheet holder ring, a mobile upper shearing and drawing ring, and a stationary shearing ring. On the lower end of the holder ring is radial projecting collar mating with a projecting collar on the upper end of the shearing ring. to limit the upward travel of the holder ring. The novelty is that the periphery of the holder ring forms a chamber with the shearing ring and the shearing ring is provided with an inlet connected to a source supplying drawing lubricant to the chamber. The holder ring is pref. provided with a groove in its projecting collar which is used for a sealing ring employed to retain the drawing lubricant in the chamber. Used for example, for shearing and drawing sheet metal blanks to make can bottoms, where there is no need to coat the sheet with drawing lubricant prior to the operations. The invention results in the local lubrication of the sheet in the stamping tools and therefore a separate, prior coating of the sheet is eliminated.
