The motor housing has on the top suction ports for the cooling air flowing through the motor and on the opposite flange side outlet ports for the cooling air. Both the top and the flange side have labyrinthine air circulation channels in which the air flow is deflected through at least 180 deg. The housing top with a central suction port can have a cover whose edge parallel to the motor axis is opposite the top port of the housing with a small radial gap. Slots at right angles to the motor axis can be made in the shell of the housing top port.
