Machine for demagnetising ferromagnetic workpieces - conveys components at right angles to direction of alternating field at constant speed

The workpieces to be demagnetised are conveyed at right angles to the lines of force of a horse-shoe electromagnet which is fed with an alternating current, at a constant speed. A shaft (2) with a gear wheel (5) is mounted in a housing (1). The shaft is driven by a motor (9) via a chain (10). The transmission chain gear (11), is fixed to the shaft outside the housing. This moves the gear wheel (5) at right angles to the magnetic lines of force between the sliding plates (6) and the guide plates (7). The application is e.g. in the automatic manufacturing of roller bearings, where at one stage the residual magnetism has to be removed.
