Drive for electrically operated motor vehicle roof - has electric motor driven pinion actuated rack with motor switching cam

The drive mechanism is used for an electrically operated sliding and lifting roof of a motor vehicle. The drive pinion is driven by electric motor with a reduction drive. The pinion moves the sliding roof via flexible cables into various positions. The electric motor is controlled by switches actuated by the drive in the closing and end positions of the sliding roof. The shaft (6) of the driving pinion can drive directly the actuating toothed rack (9) with slider (15) and switching cams (14) for the interruptors. The shaft (6) of the pinion can be engaged with gear wheel (7) which engages with a rack (9) provided with stops for actuation of the interruptors (12, 13).
