The mine anchor bolt is inserted in a hole bored in a bore-hole which contains a cartridge of self hardening material, so that the threaded end (1) of the bolt projects for enough for a nut (2) to be screwed onto the end. This operation is carried out by placing an adaptor sleeve (4) over the end of the bolt and inserting the rod so as to break the cartridge, and the ingredients harden. This adaptor has a hole (16) through the upper end face (5), shaped to fit the nut (2). The other end is closed by a plate (12) with a spigot (14) for fitting to a rotary power tool. In space (8) inside is a spring (10) which forces a pressure plate (9) at the top against the projecting end of the anchor bolt.
